I have no words!
I just found out that someone I really liked died today. I have heard that my boss, my friend, and a real scholar died in a car accident. Until I can confirm this I will not post his name but I am really sad.
I just got an email. My friends name is David Warren Bowen and it is a great loss to us all.
Indeed, a great loss. He was a great heart, a very good man. We will miss
him greatly.
That's sad. You have my condolences. I will definitely pray for his
family and friends.
I'm sorry to hear about this. I enjoyed working for him as a grad assistant
a few years ago.
For me, this is like loosing a brother. The real David was the not the
curmudgeon that most people saw. The real David was the guy who bought my
(then) 10-year-old daughter a bass body pillow for her bed because she
liked to talk to him about fishing. To see somebody who had never really
been around kids treat little kids with affection and respect was to see
the real David. My wife has an intense affection for him because he was
never phony and, even if you disagreed with him, you always knew where you
stood with him. He was man of integrity and honor. The world is a lesser
place without him.
