What is the economy have to do with politics today?

posted Friday, 14 December 2007
One of the reasons why the economy is in trouble has nothing to do with the subprime problem.  I believe one of the reasons that we have such uncertain markets is that we have uncertain politics.  No one knows who the next President is going to be or even who the candidates of the major parties are going to be.  Because of this no knows if the next president will deal with the spending problem in government.  The markets will not comeback unless we get three things: 1. we need a president who will lay out a long term solution to the debt; 2. we need a president who will take on the spending of congress from their first day in office; finally, we need a president who will take on the problems of health care, energy, and entitlements.  I do not see anyone who can do this in either party so I think we are in for a hard few years ahead.

I agree. Debt and spending is a big problem in this country. I don't know if it's possible to stop Congress from spending so much. I know I'm a Ron Paul fan and I think he can help. But I just don't think any president can really solve all these problems. We need the Congress to change almost more than we need the president to.

I am confused by your comments and your logic:

You are obviously NOT evil; however you are just as obviously ignorant. Ignorance is NOT BLISS!

Is it your opinion that the best approach for the German people, after their defeat in WWII, would have been to replace Adolf Hitler with another Nazi?

Why do you blame Congress for the overspending when it is Bush, his War for profit and his Disaster Capitalism, which have caused the problem?

Do you still believe that Saddam had WMDs? More importantly, do you believe the US has actually found any WMDs? If so, please supply references. If not, then what are you talking about?

To lay out a longterm solution to debt, you merely have to go back to the Clinton administratiion 1993-2001. I don't know how you could have forgotten that. Republicans seem to have blinders on.

What would be your solutions for healthcare, energy and entitlements? I can only assume you would dismantle entitlements the same way Bush is dismantling the middleclass.

Neal Boortz is a conman. The "FairTax" is a REGRESSIVE TAX as are ALL SALES TAXES. You haven't the foggiest idea of what you are propagandizing, do you. The "FairTax" would hurt you as much as it would hurt me. You need to get outside more.

Esther:

"We need the Congress to change almost more than we need the president to."

Where do you get your information? Bill Clinton balanced the budget. George W. Bush undid that balance in 1 year. Changing Congress would accomplish nothing with Bush spending our tax dollar$ on preemptive wars to fill the coffers of Blackwater, Exxon & Halliburton, which in turn rebate their Republican benefactors with Ca$h in their pockets, not their campaign funds, and "Faith-based Initiatives", which rebate their Republican benefactors with campaign donations. All this money comes originally from our tax dollar$. If Clinton could balance the budget, including 6 years of a Republican-dominated Congress, why can't Bush? Answer: Because Bush is too busy filling his own pockets with our tax loot!

You need to watch something other than Fox!
