The Democratic Convention

posted Saturday, 9 February 2008
What happens when 1000 Clinton supporters and 1000 Obama supporters are in the same room at the convention?  Will there be so much pressure that they must have a joint ticket?  How can Obama or Clinton offend have of the people at the convention?  Can a ticket with an African-American and a woman win? Are the racist sexist and the sexist racist?   Are the racist and the sexist enough to sink the Democrats?  Will the election be about politics or about the character of the ticket?

Dear Politicalman, a question. I have always thought that the Clinton Administration was the practical, political embodiment of post-modernism. Now it happens that the various news outlets at the moment and for the past couple of weeks have all arrived at different totals in the Democrat delegate count. Is this lack of agreement to be worried about? In other words, is there a built-in ambiguity (I'm not talking here about the superdelegates) in the Democrat-Party way of counting these totals? If there is, I suspect that the Clintons will exploit such an ambiguity every way possible. Is there really an ambiguity, and if there is, is this to be worried about? --Stephen
