David Brooks on Mike Huckabee

posted Friday, 19 October 2007

David Brooks has a great column in todays New York Times on Mike Huckabee titled "From the Back of the Pack."   I have thought that Huckabee was the real deal for the Presidency for a while and the best hope for a real conservative who could beat Hillary Clinton.  I just didn't know if he could get the nomination from the back of the pack.  Brooks writes,"But Huckabee is something that the party needs. He is a solid conservative who is both temperamentally and substantively different from the conservatives who have led the country over the past few years.
He’s rising in the polls, especially in Iowa. His popularity with the press corps suggests he could catch a free media wave that would put him in the top tier. He deserves to be there."

I think you should all read this and consider supporting Huckabee!

PS: one part of Brooks article is just wrong where he thinks that we cannot become energy independent in 8 years. Eight years is a great goal and is exactly what we need to do.

The more I learn about Mike Huckabee, the more I like him. He sets a goal of energy independency in 8-10 years - why not? As a nation we can do that if we really want to. It's obvious that he is genuine and cares about average people. I've never written in a blog or donated to a candidate before today, before Huckabee.
